The Human Mind and the concept of consciousness

What exactly is the mind? Until recently we had only philosophical answers.Plato idea was that the mind is definitely inside the head ,because the head looks more or less like a sphere which represented the highest geometrical form.Aristotle insisted that the mind was inside the heart, because warmth implies vitality;the blood is warm;the heart pumps the blood and thus the mind is inside the heart.Descartes opinion was that the mind though it's inside the head is a non-material entity and is separate from the physical tissues of the brain. He also said his famous sentence "Cogito, ergo sum" which means "I think, therefore Iam".Those were the philosophical answers, the scientific answer is yet to be completed but many facts gained by scientists working in different research institutions indicate the following; first the mind is not totally separate from the body as how Descartes asserted, because it has been proven that damages to the brain can affect our personality and or our awareness of the surroundings, in other words our minds.Second, the mind is not a rigid physical entity ,rather it's the culmination of many different phyical processes e.g. electrical impulses travelling down the neurons, chemical reactions taking place at the cell receptors of the brain etc that all lead to our consciousness.
an insight into the basics of the relationship
| any one of us has or had many different relationships yet many of us had some moments of confusion concerning their relationships. We go into relationships without much thinking and that's natural. Here I try to through some light into the basics of relationships. For any relation to develope there are certain criteria to be fulfilled.Lets take friendship as an example. Why we choose somebody to be a friend and not the many others around us? First, the feeling of being secure i.e. safe when being with that specific person is very essential in determinig any further contact.Nobody would normally hang around with somebody he or she fears or have the belief that this person may attack him or her at any time by any means. Second, the feeling of being welcome, and or the other person is interested. This is sometimes complicated, because it depends on many things. Our personality, culture ,body language, how intelligent we are etc.Any misperception of the other signs can lead to embracement or wrong actions. Third, sense of having some power in advantage over the other together with the acceptance of the other position in the community. For example a student female of a certain status would make friendship with another one with a higher status knowing that she is better academically or maybe prettier than the other, but not with a girl who is better in everyway. That's because we tend to socialize with people that would enhance our sense of achievement not our failure or our lackings. We socialize with people far better than ourselves only when we are obliged to or when the mere relationship is not our goal. Fourth, the belief that the other share the respect we have for certain values that affects the relation. But not necessarly that the other practises them.
